Five swimmers (one female and four male) of the Gambia Swimming Association on Sunday, 24 September 2023, participated at the annual Dakar-Goree Swim 2023 held in Senegal. The Dakar-Gorée Swim is an annual Open Water Swimming Championship involving hundreds of swimmers participating in a 5.2 km swimming competition from the beach of Dakar to Goree Island.

The swimmers, Sainabou Sam, Mamadi Jarju, Yankuba Jahateh, Abdoulie Sarr, and Ousman Jobe participated in the swimming competition in Dakar, Senegal. Of the 617 swimmers that completed the race out of 1,000 registered swimmers, Mamadi Jarju finished 29th, Yankaba Minteh finished 40th Abdoulie Sarr finished 55th, Ousman Jobe finished 75th, and Sainabou Sam finished 100th.
