Yorro Njie, secretary general of The Gambia Swimming and Aquatic Sports Association and the GNOC, is currently participating in the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, the 20th edition from 14 to 30 July 2023 in Fukuoka, Japan, as one of only three African referees or International Technical Officers (ITO) selected to officiate at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka.

This is his second time being appointed to officiate at an international event of this nature. The first one occurred in 2015 at the sixteenth FINA World Masters Championship, from August 5 to 16, 2015, the championship took place in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
